The Nishnawbe Aski Police Services Board is a vital oversight body for NAPS, tasked with ensuring that policing services are delivered effectively and respectfully within the Nishnawbe Aski Nation.

Our Role

As a governing body, we work to:

  • Provide strategic guidance to the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service.
  • Ensure alignment with cultural practices and community expectations.
  • Advocate for fair funding and support for Indigenous-led policing initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversight of policing services in 34 communities across Northern Ontario.
  • Supporting the mission of NAPS to provide effective, community-oriented policing.
  • Advocating for resources and policies that strengthen First Nations-led policing.

Our Commitment to Community

We understand that safety and justice go hand in hand with respect for culture, traditions, and the unique challenges faced by the communities in the Nishnawbe Aski Nation. Through dialogue and collaboration, we aim to create sustainable and meaningful impacts.
